 It doesn't seem crazy to me that in the near future people will have intelligent agents 

 working on their behalf to determine who they should meet both professionally and romantically.

 And I would assume at some point there's probably a handoff 

 from the agent to the person, but this idea even a year ago 

 sounds preposterous, but right now feels right around the corner.

 I can see the copy. We do the swiping for you.

 We do the chatting for you. We do everything for you.

 You guys are probably gonna call me a Luddite. You're 

 gonna call me a boomer. You know refer to me as past his prime

 That's okay. That's okay. I have thick skin. So bring it but I

 Have an idea That I think could be a multi-billion dollar dating franchise

 Within two or three years. I think somebody needs to build. It's just launch and

 Here's why I think the Concept that we are diving into right now, which is

 Super liquid tragedy the commons. Nobody's paying attention. Everybody's on these things, but nobody is there

 I think you solve that with some sort of offline physical fulcrum and 

 it's just launch is an incredibly powerful model because it forces your

 attention in One direction and you actually have to be present 

 and I just think there's something super powerful about this concept

 because you can do a lot of pre, you know pre vetting 

 and sorting and you get you get around this problem of like

 You know having to do coordination stuff. And what I mean by that is like

 There's a million ways to put people together right but all that chit's hard you have

 restaurant recommendations and ubers and It's trust and safety issues and 

 these things are just a million vectors where things can go wrong. But if you

 Institutionalize that you standardize it around just lunch or 

 dinner or whatever and you make it just a stamped model saying, okay

 Put your data here We'll match your data with you know

 a bunch of stuff over there and then this is what it's 

 gonna look like and you force people into a physical space and

 And it's done really really high quality with like, you know, you really dial it in

 It's not fucking speed dating either. It's not 

 speed dating. Um, it's a lot closer to kind of like a

 Structured matchmaker, but you do it around lunch or 

 dinner and you I mean basically you copy it's just lunch

 But you know rebrand it make it cool to bring a ton of data into it

 I just think that model is so powerful because what 

 people want is they actually do want that physicality?

 They want that intimacy. They want someone paying attention, 

 but they want it structured and standardized. They don't want like

 Oh, what do I do now? Like take take the 

 question completely off the table brand the entire thing

 Around that physical event and rinse and repeat

 hundreds of thousands of times I'm telling you in cities

 This would be a massive massive hit if it wasn't perceived as like some

 Service for you know people who have been divorced or 

 whatever people that are kind of like, you know, maybe like

 Pass their window or whatever make it for young people. Anyways

 I'm creating this room to collect the most 

 interesting chits I find across our chat on this topic

 and also to invite a conversation about sex, connection, 

 intimacy, dating, finding each other in these technologically driven days.

 So maybe a good question to get the conversation going is what are you guys

 insights when it comes to the complexity of meeting somebody in this

 technologically driven days with the exponential awareness we're having now

 of AI and the multitude of different apps and all their inequalities and the

 challenges that they present put next to this evolutionary drive that we have to

 All right, so let's unpack that a little bit. The evolutionary drive to propagate

 the species is evident. It might change with technological advancement of how

 can somebody become a father or mother without another human necessarily

 involved in the act, but for the most part the replication 

 is built in our DNA otherwise our species wouldn't survive.

 So the first hypothesis there, the first theory, is that even if today we can have

 species propagation without another human, which is possible already, there's

 a drive to find a mate that is built in the genetics. So it's an instinct.

 Another element is that perhaps due to the abundance of technological

 interference when it comes to finding each other in relationship, the point

 younger generations that picking up the phone to call somebody is coming more

 and more out of use. There's an impediment when it comes to approaching

 say somebody having a conversation naturally that is slowly being replaced by technology.

 Then there's the fact that there's certain aspects of ourselves that we can

 only find through relationship with another. And this may not be true to

 everybody but you can argue that you by yourself living in a beautiful spot

 wouldn't have the opportunity to encounter some of the dilemmas that will

 arise when you are in relationship with another human being.

 When it comes to a romantic type of relationship, it's somehow portrayed in all the literature

 and most recently movies, the reflection that we fantasize with this serendipitous meeting

 the one person or our person type of relationship, which is becoming more and more challenging

 for one because we are more isolated, sometimes even living in cities, being inside our worlds

 and our devices and our spaces, there's less walking around and meeting each other organically

 as it used to be before. And also because our 

 interests and curiosities have niched down so much.

 abundance of what you could be interested in, there's

 much more nuance into what makes one of us seriously tickle that may be interesting to

 share with another. I'll explain this in a different chat.

 What I mean by that is that even though there's a 

 high level of mystery which makes it fun and exciting

 to understand what works and what doesn't when 

 it comes to a relationship that is long lasting

 we can say that there are certain values, appreciation of beauty, interests, perhaps goals

 agreements about what is a life worth living that need to match or be in alignment.

 So in that sense you might find yourself being part of a 1% that somehow looks

 for a meaningful connection with someone that is in another part of a 1% and this

 becomes a great challenge especially thinking of geographical limitations.

 There's a few chits that I found in one of Norgaard's rooms that I'm going to

 stitch here because they're really useful to help 

 us think through how could we achieve this digitally.

 Love that. I think there's something here for sure

 Two years ago I was working closely with dating and matchmakers dating coaches 

 as matchmakers to bring their people together live on video in speed dating events

 And they were pretty sight price insensitive

 We had no problem selling out 40 50 60 dollars per ticket and you were 

 just gonna meet four people in a series of you know, three four minute dates

 We'd sell those out like crazy the that was 

 right at the height of the pandemic though, so

 I Do think there's something here. I know there's people paying even 

 more than a hundred thousand people paying millions to find the right person

 With most of the money kind of tied up to 

 the idea of them getting married. Come like a

 price like a headhunter I Think you're touching on something really interesting 

 here is that there's not there is an opportunity to create real-world experiences

 that are exclusively for singles and a part of the serendipity is that you

 Can meet people beyond just who you've matched with at these events?

 Live and in the moment, it's possible that you

 Could you could run this business like pop-up shops

 but for for mingling for singles that is as

 You put it a turnkey solution. It's a one-size-fits-all

 Maybe it's even once a week and you're swiping to find your matches

 Only if you've already paid to register to go to that event on that that's happening

 That Saturday or Friday or whatever it might be and you'll meet up with people there

 There's this obvious weird social dynamic though that you will 

 meeting up at this event with people that you've also said no to

 But if it's double opt-in then they don't even know that you've said no to them

 the second piece is You might have multiple matches at these 

 events. So maybe you're only like that even have one match per week

 You know, you're only allowed to or we only get shown one match per week

 Maybe there's multiple matches, but you're only shown one 

 match week. There's a lot of ways I can imagine this going

 I'm obviously just riffing on that on the spot

 But I think that's a testament to the idea 

 having having legs. I can imagine somebody taking this

 You can you can even correct this OR try to correct this

 all right, there's a couple points I just want to get 

 out of here with it. You know, I don't know that it's fine

 what I was saying in text. So first, about VR, I think that human avatars

 are a major unlock, this instant ability

 to feel a sense of presence based on where you look

 and that mapping into the space of contact

 with the people around you. There's still a question of moderation,

 and so there's that idea of the group-type events,

 and I think things that technically aren't dating apps

 are important, for example, open world building experiences

 where all sorts of activities can happen,

 then dating can flow from that. Maybe those events are organized, end up self-sorting

 by community or interest, for example, people getting together to talk about the outdoors

 or coding or art, and maybe ends up as a

 friends of friends type of hangout. Framed another way, how does 3D space compete

 with real-world 3D space? By having spaces to hang out and meeting people

 and so on, et cetera. Lots of social interactions are enabled by playing games.

 Then people stay in contact, they join a group chat

 or a Discord server or a Facebook group or whatever,

 and they stay in contact. The spatial interaction enables a demonstration

 of skill and personality and given a variety

 having a certain intensity or maybe a lightheartedness.

 You could end up even in a game where there's

 a group of 15 people where it's not so large

 but is enough where people can demonstrate their banter

 and their interest in collaborating and hanging out

 So around 2018 when I realized that all the creativity was gone in building Tinder,

 it was just a big multivariate testing platform and there's really not enough

 surface area, no surface area left to really do anything fun.

 So I started thinking about sort of like what would it, what I,

 what would it be a big idea? Like a disruptive idea.

 And I have this concept in my head called the dating genome project.

 And imagine if you could collect really rich information on people.

 I'm talking absurdly rich and use the collection of data to cross reference and

 cross pollinate. And so, you know, we're talking religious preferences,

 you know, types of media you consume, pulling in like, you know, basically,

 you know, authenticating with third parties and pulling in Facebook data,

 Instagram data, TikTok data, and all that sort of stuff and trying to mash it up

 to build like the most complex, robust, rigid profile of someone ever in the

 other twist on the model was I wanted to

 make it global. I don't want to be tied to this abstraction that is location.

 I wanted to move it beyond that. And really just sort of like the concept is,

 you know, there's 8 billion people, 1 billion of which are single, you know,

 let the machines do the work. The machines are capable of doing this work.

 It's really the quality of the data. How will you wash it?

 And then, you know, how obviously we can keep people engaged on the platform

 so they don't fall off. But the concept wouldn't be like an environment where you

 go and swipe through people. I think that's kind of trite for this.

 different way, which is it would be mostly

 push, not pull. And, you know, you would, you know, you'd build the profile

 in the world and then you'd wait. And when the results came through with some

 confidence that was in this like area where we thought it was interesting to you,

 we would ping you. Now, I think this idea is a great position.

 It's everything. It's fantasy land, though, too.

 I mean, unfortunately, I don't want to say unfortunate.

 Just biology stipulates that men generally, you know, the first thing that

 they're first thing they're calculating on is is physical attractiveness.

 So kind of negate a little part of a decent part of the funnel.

 But I'm still optimistic that someone could build a dating genome product

 And I think it could be like really cool.

 Anyway, I just thought I would share that one.

 In the end, all these services are kind of gunning for the same thing.

 Better data, more liquidity, right? More liquidity, better data equals better results on the other side.

 I think though you can really flip the idea on its head by turning it global,

 demystifying that kind of barrier, and then also just
