 well myself I thought he was just talking about thinking in general but

 actually what he seems to be talking about is more the capacity to be

 critical and as Naval says the capacity to evaluate judgment so that's a

 different thing that's a subset of the overall thinking so he wasn't talking

 about thinking in the aggregate but rather thinking in the specific case at

 least that's my interpretation and I could be wrong

 about not outsourcing the critical faculties. And yeah,

 This is a great insight from Paul and one 

 which I certainly have been the victim of myself.

 On the top rated rooms for monthly, daily, all-time, etc. I think we should expand

 more than just the top 30. I think it shouldn't 

 be limited but at least we should do triple digits.

 It would be also awesome if I could minimize the 

 one I'm listening to and keep searching on the app.

 So I'd like to get ideas on what anyone thinks about the adoption of blockchains

 and cryptocurrencies. So to me it seems like the technologies have matured to a

 point where at least they are usable and regular people can interact with

 blockchains and blockchain applications and still do something reasonable. But it

 seems like the adoption is still stuck with the initial users that were

 acquired in the initial run of cryptocurrencies and blockchains. So what

 do you really think is stopping regular people from adopting this technology?

 Because it seems to offer a couple benefits 

 but the adoption is still like a big problem.

 I just noticed an update on Twitter about Meta's new announcement about those AI

 integrated Ray-Ban glasses. Any interesting rooms discussing this?

 So I just started reading economics in one lesson and I've been thinking some

 stuff. I thought I'd pop it here instead of creating a new room right now.

 So in the second or third chapter he gets into government credit and why it's a

 fallacy. So his major reasoning is that governments bet with taxpayers money and

 hence get careless with the risks which is fair and I agree with that.

 He takes the example of a farmer and says that government shouldn't get into lending

 since that would take away the ability of a different farmer

 who could have gotten a loan from a private fund to build a farm.

 Now, my question is, land is zero-sum, so it makes sense that 

 the person who is gonna be more efficient should get the loan.

 But what about non-zero-sum games? What about software? Is it 

 okay if government loans out money for building software products?

 My building software doesn't take away the ability from someone else's building software, right?

 So, the added point here would be that writing software alone does not cost a lot.

 So, you would not need loans in the first place.

 The cost would be something like servers, which 

 one could say that is again zero-sum in some way.

 So I guess my real question is, is it possible to have a 

 positive-sum game wherein there are physical resources involved?

 And if such a field exists wherein which is positive sum and you would require

 loans, would it be alright for government institutions to come in and fund them?

 No, that doesn't work. The government has had small 

 business grants and loans, including for software development.

 They had a whole program for venture capital that has 

 basically failed to deliver good returns compared to the VC industry.

 The money comes from taxpayers who had earned that money and 

 presumably know how to invest it because they earned it and they had

 alternative uses for that money. Instead, it's taken and deployed by 

 government bureaucrats into areas where they don't know what they're doing and you

 get substandard returns. So this is a central planning all 

 again. It does not work, whether it's positive sum or zero sum.

 Land development also is not zero-sum, it is positive-sum.

 In capitalism, any enterprise that returns a positive return on capital is positive-sum.

 So, for example, take a look at building a Hong Kong or a Singapore.

 That is positive-sum for the small amount of land involved.

 Same way, if you started an irrigation project 

 in the desert and it failed and you lost money,

 that would be negative-sum. So land development is also positive-sum.

 Any capitalist activity that returns its cost of capital plus a reasonable return

 is essentially positive-sum. It's baked into the economics.

 I see, I have been trying to re-evaluate my 

 model of negative and positive sum games ever

 since I came across the idea that knowledge 

 is the real limiter not the resources in one

 of Brett's videos. He takes the example of the TV 

 industry and how people thought they were gonna run out

 of the material to make them but then LED 

 came along and you didn't need the previous

 material at all. So in that sense no physical resource 

 is zero sum and your definition helps resolve that. Thanks

 but there is a very, very good resource by him that's

 called 102 Accounting. I think I have to start to write down notes from it,

 because it's a lot for me to keep in mind, as in to remember,

 to be able to connect the dots and make sense of it.

 credits and debits breakdown, that was just a off-the-cuff, like, let's go

 through the basics and how it relates to a bank account and just go through all

 the basic concepts of accounting. I would say write things down if it's useful to

 you, but don't, please don't write things down as some homage, like, I'm not doing

 like some particularly terrific set of education there or something, I'm just

 kind of recounting the basics from the point of view of someone who's just done

 it intuitively for a long time. So I am more than happy to answer questions,

 especially about specific areas, because the big field of accounting starts with

 just, like, what the statements mean and how do you, you know, figure out based on

 the bank account and context, you know, which statements get populated with
